MVP #058 – DISASTER! – Recovery When Everything Goes Wrong – Mark Phipps – Mocha Vegan Performance Podcast

Imagine the moment, your basketball team takes the court at another school. Wearing their bright blue uniforms smiling and excited for the game ahead. The first half is played aggressively with tons of energy. Your team is up almost twenty points at the half and spirits are extremely high. The other team is good, but your team is still in control of the game. In the second half, a series of events takes place that challenges all preparation and mental toughness. That’s the topic of this week’s conversation with Mark Phipps, age 12, regarding a recent basketball challenge never imagined.

Hills and uneven surfaces and sunlight, oh my!

Hills and uneven surfaces and sunlight, oh my!

Remember going to camp as a kid? Though I never went to science camp in 6th grade, I’ve stayed in red cabins without climate control beneath beautiful trees and spent time unplugged from the busy daily life. When I was a kid, busy was riding bikes or watching cartoons. Kids have their own busy things today, but camp serves the same purpose as always: it allows you to focus on other people and nature. Learn a little about how nature works and experience living a little more simply, if only for a couple days.

100 6th graders from 3 classes experiencing the crown jewel of their elementary school time. Good times and great memories for all. I brought a small cooler with supplemental food and made a mostly vegan camping experience for me; it wasn’t hard at all.

Enjoy the skit video from the boys in our cabin, Those Ivy Boys. They may always remember this 2:40 of their camp! My son, Mark, has the hat and the footie pajamas!

By Bella Phipps, age 8

Here are some ways how to stay healthy and what happens when you do them.

Happy Life

Regular exercise every day for about one hour can increase up to five more years of life to live in a happy and healthy life with your family.

Sporty Fun

When you exercise daily you won’t get fat and you can enjoy any sports that you may do.By doing that sport you can stay healthy if you do it often.

Looks

If you exercise often then you won’t be fat and you’ll look better than ever!

Proud

Just stay healthy to make yourself proud to be fit and skinny.

Staying Healthy Is Important

Stay healthy so that you won’t die as soon as you would if you didn’t exercise and eat fruits and vegetables.

Volleyball Exercises

You can stay fit by doing volleyball because you must have quick feet so that you can get to the ball in time to bump it over the net.To get quick feet you have to increase your feet muscles which takes muscles. When you set the ball it increases your upper body strength. If you are the hitter in your volleyball team or club your upper body strength increases whenever you hit the ball over the net.

Basketball

Basketball can help you stay fit because whenever you shoot the ball into the basketball hoop you increase your upper body strength. When you pass the basketball to someone you increase upper body strength. If your dribbling the basketball it helps a bit by increasing your arm strength and your upper body strength.

Football

Another sport that would help you stay fit is football.Football is a throwing, kicking, and tackling sport and all three of these are increasing and using muscles.

Running And Push-Ups

If you run about a mile a day and do ten push-ups everyday for one month then you might be aching but you’ll be fit and you will burn a lot of fat.

Fruits And Veggies

When you eat fruits and vegetables often then you’ll definitely be  healthy but you also have to exercise so don’t think that only eating healthy will keep you healthy.

Those are some ways how to stay healthy and what happens if you do them often or a lot.

FOOD!!!

What to eat seems to be at the top of everyone’s list all the time. I remember thinking about people’s inability to suffer in today’s world. I hear the stories of the bible and consider that suffering today can mean that McDonald’s is out of ranch for your Chicken McNuggets…Needless to say, we expect a higher level of comfort today than ever in history.
